I never had a gas cooktop before. Love cooking on it. Wish I had one sooner.

The cooktop has a nice design but is not particularly powerful. While there are other KitchenAid cooktop that are, this was the only one that would fit in the cutout space in my granite countertop. Like the very low burner settings. The only cooktop I've seem that actually does a 'simmer' without burning the contents of a pot. my biggest concern is that the burners only auto-ignite when the knobs are 1st turned on so if you turn the knobs to quick the gas will be on but doesn't have time to ignite or if for some reason the flame goes out (e.g. on lowest setting and the A/C comes on and blows the flame out) . This could obviously be dangerous! Disappointed the say the least.

It's hard to keep this cooktop clean, and when you do clean it properly, it takes 15-20 minutes to remove and wash all the burner parts, grates, and knobs. The sticky label that was on it was so hard to remove that I scratched the surface trying to get it off. also, none of the burners have completely even flames, even though the booklet says they should. The cooktop wasn't installed completely level, but that's not your fault. However, all that aside, I love cooking with gas. The range of burner options is nice, seems to be effective for all kinds of cooking.

We find this stovetop tobe a great upgrade to our kitchen. It is far more powerful than our old maytag one, has greater surface area, and is very handsome to look at. So far very pleased with the perofrmance.
