This 36-inch wall-mounted canopy hood features a design that complements today's commercial-style cooking surfaces. This hood is installed in our 3 year old home. The fan control switch housing is poorly designed cheap plastic, and very expensive to replace. Has broken twice already in the course of normal use. Trying to reinforce the part myself now as replacing it again is just throwing money away. The internal blower (sold seperately for an additional $500) just quit on ours too - the second in our neighborhood to fail in 3 years or less.

I'm had this hood installed in my new home. After 15 months the switch (control Panel) fell apart. I ordered a new one from Kitchenaid Parts online and installed it in Nov of 2016. After 6 months the part failed again. I submitted an online contact to KA and someone called my wife back offering apologies, telling her to go to the company we bought the part from to check the warranty. Part was item #: 1878923 Description: Control Panel Price: $60.99 and was purchases for KA parts! Unbelievable

We purchased this hood 9 months ago as part of a full kitchen renovation. While the exhaust performs extremely well and has a great appearance, my frustration with this equipment relates to a cheap piece of plastic which holds the control panel. It has now just broken for the 3rd time - and in the process of being replaced again! The appliance repair company is in the process of determining if this is a common problem - oh, yah, half of the reviews for this unit complain of this very issue - going back 3 years. Come on kitchenaid, either correct the design flaw (cheap plastic) or stop manufacturing the product. Dear Kitchenaid, are you willing to fix my unit forever free of charge or can you come up with a viable fix? If not for this frustrating issue, I would probably rate my $18,000 kitchen package 5 stars - but a 50 cent piece of plastic junk is leaving me frustrated with this purchase. I would love to hear back from Kitchenaid with a solution.
