This has to be the worst engineered oven it has been my displeasure to own in more than forty-five years. I totally agree with some of the previous responses. When temp is reached, the oven signals and immediately the timer starts recording cooking time. - - - I haven't even put the food in the oven yet. It should start when you open the door to put food in. Now, when done using this disaster, if you want to open the oven door to cool it quickly, you get a "wind tunnel" effect that doesn't quit. Its loud and very annoying. At one point it went on for 25 minutes. Its a real problem if your serving in the kitchen. I have to add cooking time to all my recipes. The microwave is really stupid too. If you set a time, like one or two minutes, it never shuts off. You have to continue watching the printout to know when time is over. When you hit "reheat", it goes on forever. You have to monitor constantly or it will dry out your food. I'm sorry, but I think this is the worst designed appliance I have ever owned and I wish I would have read some of these comments previously. My Bad! P.S. I wouldn't recommend this unit to an enemy either!

I've been using this oven for about 6 months now. I've had one service call because I couldn't believe that the oven cooling fans could be so loud or run so long. I thought that something must be wrong. Sadly, the oven is designed to run this way. For example, I turned the oven on before 5pm to bake Chicken Pot Pie at 425 degrees. It takes a long time to preheat to that temp. I baked the pie, and we ate dinner, all the while with the cooling fan running. Then, working son comes home late and throws a pizza in the oven - more preheating , more baking, and much more cooling. The fan was blowing from nearly 5:30- 9pm in January in MN! Overall, I am disappointed in this oven on all aspects. The convection baking is not even when using 2 cookie sheets. Don't even think about trying 3. The preheat time is double if not triple my old oven. ( The service tech said this was due to energy efficency standards.) Baking times are 1/3 LONGER than standard. The fan on the microwave oven is even louder and more aggressive than the lower oven. What exactly is TRUE CONVECTION if I can no longer bake several calzones at once and achieve a crispy crust. I've been told by major retailers in our area that this is a very popular oven. I wonder if the people buying it actually bake! I find it disturbing that Kitchen-Aid would engineer a product to be so inneffictive and pass off the declining performance on government standards. If you are looking for an attractive oven but don't care about preheat time, baking time, crispiness, or even browning, then this is the oven for you.

I bought this combination Microwave/convection oven and oven four weeks ago. We enjoy it very much. It is easy to use and has all the new technology that makes cooking and baking a pleasure. It is also aesthetic looking.
