For too many years, black, white, and gray have dominated the kitchen landscape. Not that there’s anything wrong with black, white, or gray—these shades are timeless and tend to go with everything. But we think it’s time to add some color to the kitchen. And while we understand that making bold color statements in the kitchen can be a mixed bag, we know that each of these looks can be pulled off in flawless style.
Let’s start with
Viking. In their own words, “Viking is infusing beauty and originality from around the globe into your home with the Contemporary Color Collection.” The colors they have available are vibrant and statement-making. This collection was born out of a partnership with Sherwin Williams, and the results speak for themselves.
To select their colors, of which there are many, Viking looked around the world—literally. The spices and saris of India, the stunning natural beauty of the Swiss landscape, the gagaku of Japan, and—of course—the colors of home derived from the Mississippi Delta. Viking finishes can bring your home to life in more ways than one—no matter the look you’re going for or the mood you’re trying to invoke.
Another brand in the business of making bold color statements is
Smeg. We love these because, in addition to the explosion of color, the retro style itself is bold and beautiful. Sure, you can get these in traditional colors, but with options including lime green, orange, pastel green, pastel blue, pink, red, Mickey Mouse (you read that right), the Italian flag, and (of course) the Stars and Stripes, why settle for traditional? These colors and patterns will do more than attract the eye—they’ll reflect a bit of you who are to anyone who visits.
Smeg doesn’t draw the line at vibrant colors or beloved Disney mascots, though. In teaming up with Dolce Gabbana, Smeg launched a special edition of their FAB28 refrigerator, turning an everyday appliance into a hands-down work of art. These refrigerators feature images by a range of Sicilian artists, including lemons, the trinacria symbol, cart wheels, medieval knights, and battle scenes. In Smeg’s own words, the “distinctive elements of the poetic marionette theater and the Sicilian Cart as well as important aspects of the aesthetic of Domencio Dolce and Stefano Gabbana” combine to create 100 exclusive artisan refrigerators.
Likewise, you can find ranges from
Bluestar available in more than 750 colors and 10 different metal trims. And though they have yet to add the splashier colors,
GE Appliances now offers four colors in addition to black and white, with black stainless being among the most popular, as it tends to match all cabinet colors.
Not ready to take the dive into a flashy color but interested in bringing a fresh look to your kitchen? The
GE Café White finish might be the best of both worlds. You can choose appliances in matte black, matte white, or stainless steel and add custom handles and knobs to match or contrast your kitchen’s color palette.
Whatever your wants for your kitchen—vivacious and engaging or classy and understated—Metro Appliances & More can make that a reality. Ask about the available finishes on the appliance or appliances that catch your eye. While the traditional colors will never go out of style, we’re always happy to add a little color to your kitchen.
