Major Defects and Unreliable

We purchased this model in April 2017 and the fridge stopped cooling in August. It then leaked water, ruined part of our hardwood floor, and so we called for warranty work. Repair service was arranged quickly and the prescribed repair was to replace an evaporator cover, but the part was back ordered and took a couple weeks to arrive. The repair man installed the part; after 24 hours the fridge was not cooling and the freezer had stopped working also. After arguing with customer service for a while and demanding a replacement, they insisted that another attempt be made to repair. A different repair company came out and KitchenAid prescribed the same repair of the evaporator cover. We played along hoping that maybe an error was made in the initial repair attempt. However, after two repair attempts and nearly two months without a functioning fridge for a family of 5 with 3 children under 4 years old, the fridge was not cooling still. KitchenAid then finally agreed to replace the fridge and the replacement arrived after about a week. We've had the replacement for about 3 days the ice maker has yet to produce any ice. This is how the initial problem started, so we have very little confidence in this replacement fridge at this point. This model has major problems and many reviewers seem to be posting complaints about similar issue. I have zero confidence that this $4000 appliance will last and I will be asking KitchenAid for another replacement but with an entirely different model this time.

Very disappointed because the ice maker never put out ice thru the door function from the minute we plugged it in. The adjustable shelves in the door do not fit and one of the permanent shelve's holder broke. On the bright side a repairman came out quickly but I need 2 new front doors and it will take two months to receive them. I love the way the refrigerator looks and so far everything else is working properly.

Bought this brand new July 4th Weekend 2017 from biggest appliance store in the area. No one told us about this cooling defect that everyone else writes about. The unit failed barely 2 months later, we lost $100 in food and we are told parts are not available for 4 weeks. KitchenAid, this unit has a problem, recall it and fix it. Do the right thing even though this will cost you some money. If not we will never trust your brand again.

After purchasing all my appliances from Kitchen Aid this refrigerator while expensive is not worth the money. Just as the other reviewers have stated there are problems with the ice maker and within 6 months the refrigerator section has gone out. I usually buy GE and am really regretting the purchase. The repair person told us "this is a common problem with the model". My last GE refrigerator lasted me over 7 years without one single problem. So disappointed with the workmanship with this model. This needs to be recalled.
