KitchenAid 26.8 cu. ft. 36-Inch Width Standard Depth French Door Refrigerator with Exterior Ice and Water Platinum Interior - Stainless Steel

We bought Kitchen-Aid appliances for our kitchen. All of them. We wanted everything to match, and to buy a little bit up the food chain - quality - now that we could afford it. what a JOKE! 1) Refrigerator came, put into place and within two weeks, the drawer of the freezer was all frosted up on the left side (as you face it) and the ice delivery didn't work. We did everything that the techs told us to do, but alas, the motor was burned out. So a FULL MONTH to get a replacement. 2) The second refrigerator the ice machine worked but the freezer drawer, once again, frosted up on the side and froze with ice all the way across the bottom. It was so frozen that you literally pulled the whole unit across the floor unless you put your one hand on the refrigerator doors and yanked hard!! Once that was done it would open pretty OK for a couple of days and then the ice would build up and you'd have to wrench your shoulder to get it open once again. SO ANOTHER THREE WEEKS WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT MODEL. 3) the third unit has been in place for two days. Already frosting up. The tech came out and (finally) looked into the Kitchen-Aid bulletins, and this evidently happens often enough that they have a bulletin about it. BUT NO FIX!! So his solution? (drum roll please) DON'T BUY KITCHEN-AID!/WHIRLPOOL/MAYTAG models with a freezer drawer! But the rest of our kitchen appliances are already in place, so what are we to do? What a complete and abject fail - for a LOT of money. And the store where we bought this hunk of junk says that if we return it we loose the "discount" that we got by buying all four appliances together!! So we are left with the following: buy a side by side Kitchen Aid (not my first choice, since I bake and I need the larger compartment of a french door) or ....????

The design is a big improvement over my old side by side. It's much easier to see items in the back of the shelves. I can easily reach items. It holds more on the doors than I expected. Freezer drawers are also well designed and I can easily find items without digging around. Quiet operation, too. I love this refrigerator.

We bought this fridge on the recommendations of several appliance dealers and our own research. It was rated the highest in our price range and we couldn't be happier with our purchase.

Less than 2 months after this was delivered & installed the back panel of the refrigerator froze and the freezer drawers did not keep food frozen. We had a repairman come out and told us he'd have the parts to fix it on a certain day and that we were to turn off our refrigerator the night before to melt the ice build up. He came a day later than he promised. We lost over $200 worth of food. 1.5 months later the same thing happened. Refrigerator froze over again and the freezer items started to melt. Needless to say this is going back to where we bought it and we'll buy a different brand.

I purchase this about a month ago and I'm glad that I did. I have been wanting a French door due to the extra space inside and the fact you can see everything. In my side by side, my food was frequently spoiling because things just kept getting shoved in there. This kitchen aid is quiet and has a nice interior the one I purchased was silver. I also like the fact the ice maker auger is metal and not plastic like in the samsungs or LG brands.
