Whirlpool 36-inch French Door Refrigerator with Flexible Capacity that Stores More - 27 cu. ft.

Purchased August 2012 for a brand new kitchen. We've had several issues with the ice maker (been replaced twice), issues with the motherboard (replaced), issues with the sealing of the freezer (replaced), issues with the temperature in the freezer (seemed to fix itself after 2 weeks of weird noises) and now the freezer is out, the ice compartment can't maintain a temperature cold enough to keep ice frozen so water constantly runs out through the ice dispenser and into the floor. We are done - would love to drop this off on Whirlpool's front porch and leave it. Called and was told there were no "known" issues with the fridge - have they read the reviews?

My beautiful new refrigerator was barely two months old, and the strip that forms the seal between the two doors broke. It can't be replaced, because it is broken on the door side, rather than the strip. Our only option was to have a new door ordered for installation. That could take 6-8 weeks. In the meantime, we have to manually maneuver the left door. Although I am terribly disappointed over this type of breakage, I want to emphasize that our appliance dealer has gone above and beyond to get this issue taken care of. Now, if we can only avoid breaking the strip off completely.

I bot this refrigerator 2 1/2 years ago. It has been the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. In the beginning I had many problems with the ice maker. Finally got that fixed. Now 2 years later the MAIN circuit breaker is out and the switch is out. My refrigerator will no longer work. I have been without a refrigerator for 3 weeks now trying to get some one to fix it or replace it.

Well, Whirlpool asked our opinion and we are going to be honest. We have had a lot of problems with this refrigerator which is the 29 inch French door model. The unit is poorly designed with the ice maker actually inside the refrigerator causing frost inside of the refrigerator. We have also had frost, heavy frost inside the freezer. The ice maker failed after 3 weeks of delivery and it took a month to get it repaired. The outside paint or finish is some special stuff and you can't use glass cleaner, auto wax or a whole list of other common items people would use for the doors and so forth. Further, this better idea is not. When you fill the freezer, you can find anything. We had a GE 27 in before this that was a side by side and it was much better. People need to realize that just because something comes out that is "new", doesn't mean it is better. Another annoying feature is the ice maker in that you have to run it on fast ice all of the time to keep up with demand (only two in our family) and the storage tray is way too small and thus does not hold much. We would NOT buy another Whirlpool in this design and in fact wish we had our old model GE back. IT was 22 years old and never had a problem of any kind. Whirlpool in our opinion is a poorly managed company. Do you hear us NOW Whirlpool?

While this is a nice refrigerator, I am more impressed with Whirlpool customer service and the company's willingness to stand behind their product. The refrigerator purchased had some issues with the ice maker. Had to call for repairs three times. On the third call, informed a new refrigerator would be delivered since the issue with the ice maker could not be pinpointed and it continued to fail. Did not have to ask to have the appliance replaced, Whirlpool just replaced it. Have not had issues with the new appliance and simply love it.
