We purchased this refrigerator only a few months ago and have enjoyed its sleek appearance in our kitchen. KitchenAid prides itself in making appliances that are both attractive and functional. However, the material used on the surface of this refrigerator is very thin and prone to easy denting. My son recently walked by the fridge and bumped into it with the neck of his acoustic guitar and it left a sizeable and very noticeable dent in the surface of the fridge. When I called the store to ask about having this repaired or replaced (as it is very unsightly), I was told it would cost me nearly $800.00 to fix this problem. My Whirlpool fridge that we've had for more than 18 years has stood up to far more abuse over the years and has exactly zero dents in it. I feel that KitchenAid should stand by this product and replace the dented door free of charge. It is unreasonable to put such fragile items in the kitchen and they should tell people that they are so fragile. I feel like I have been misled into thinking this is a quality product when in fact it is made in such a way that it should be covered in bubble wrap to keep it from denting. This is a quality control problem that should be remedied.

The refrigerator is nice overall, not too happy with the location of the water filter housing, it's right in the way. Could use more room for tall items. Wish the door shelves were adjustable. Love the temperature display and controls. So far I am happy with this unit , and I would recommend it to others.
